ways to install windows 10 is either upgrade from your existing windows or do a clean installation from a cd or usb device.

Are you asking for help or making a statement? If you're asking for help you'll need to be more specific. Can you boot the CD? USB? the installer is not seeing the harddrive? the install gives ????? error
Engineers are usually better at explaining things ;)

    Hello, Good Sir

My MBR has been messed up

this is where my PC is at right now -->
    1. Boot
    2. It goes to a "recovery screen"
    Enter -- Try Again
    F1 -- Recovery Environment
    F8 -- Startup Settings
    ESC -- UEFI Firmware Settings
    * Laptop turns off "off button, power off" in 30 sec when no command is entered!!

    So Andy,
"upgrade from your existing windows or do a clean installation" ?
    A) Upgrade cannot be done, it wont let me
    B) New installation is the ONLY possibility

    Hey Andy, you said,
"from a cd or usb device"

    A) CD??? Dude, ya kiddin' me, these new blasted laptops aren't even built with CD drives anymore.........
Boy I tell ya, go figure.
But attached an external one anyways with the windows CD in it.
    Same results =
    1) Upgrade cannot be done, it wont let me
    2) New installation is the ONLY possibility

    B) USB??? Man, Andy, Yeah I tried that bro:
    Test 1 --> Attached USB-C to USB-C SSD drive. Won't recognize........
Test 2 --> Attached USB-A Flashdrive with Windows Installation

    Result
    Same results =
    C) Upgrade cannot be done, it wont let me
    D) New installation is the ONLY possibility

Foogoo, Nice to Meet You Sir

Hey Foogoo, as you were saying --
    "If you're asking for help?"
    I am asking for help.

    Foogoo, you mentioned,
    "Can you boot the CD?"
    1. I booted from an external drive attached, via USB-A, with the Windows disc in it
    2. Upon starting the windows installation, it gave two options like Andy said, with options to either
    Upgrade
    New Install
    3. Upgrade option was not possible and ended in a fail
Windows could NOT be installed this way and would not go any further............
    4. New Install option got me to the next step
The windows screen said, what drive do you want to install to
And NO DRIVES ARE DETECTED! Not even the internal one........................
    Foogoo, go figure
The Windows installation could not go any further

Foogoo, you said install with the USB,
    "USB?"
I did this. Got the same results as
"boot the CD", as explained above

    Foogoo, you said something about,
"the installer is not seeing the harddrive?"
Yeah, tell me about it -- you are SO RIGHT!
It wouldn't even detect a secondary drive either, via USB-C to SSD

The USB Flashdrive, 3rd way windows could be installed, was not detected in the windows install screen where it said to install to drive, but detected on boot to install windows from the USB Flashdrive,
A real paradox or irony, i say.............

    Foogoo, as you said,
" the install gives ????? error"
You were looking for an ERROR
The error is that no drives are detected to be able to install to when the windows installation starts.........

    Result
    Windows could not be installed

    Hope that answered everything Foogoo,
"you'll need to be more specific"
I can be more specific if you want, just ask me a question.

    THANKS

Ok, you never said this was a laptop, you never described a single thing, so we just had to speculate...
Still, you could say the manufacture & model?
Also, the OS you're trying to install / repair?
If the drive is not recognized, you'll need a storage driver from the manufacture's website.

FooGoo, read above my previous quote,
"A) CD??? Dude, ya kiddin' me, these new blasted laptops"

    FooGoo, you asked,
    "manufacture & model?"
    Acer Aspire AV15-51 x64 CyberPowerPC
    AV15-51-7617

    FooGoo, you asked the question,
"the OS you're trying to install"
FooGoo,, this was my very first response, read above,
"Wasn't able to install windows 10"

    FooGoo, you mentioned
    "trying to install / repair?"
    Repair. MBR is down.

    FooGoo, you said,
"If the drive is not recognized, you'll need a storage driver from the manufacture's website."
Fanxiang website: 0 drivers, only manuals. Product mint, just bought
Crucial website: 0 specific drivers, 1 storage executive
Acer website: 0 specific drivers. doesn't show up. luckily i hunted one down before and put it on a flashdrive, but during installation is has no effect at all and doesn't help or change the results in any way...........

So it is the same rig as the other Topic, thanks for time-wasting.

Carefully refit your drive and give the notebook innards the sniff test around the M2 socket.

All looks, feels and smells good but no difference when trying to access the drive? Ask a friend to test your 'mint' drive or find a local shop or enthusiast to help test it - or return it for a working drive.

    /bye

Satrow, this is a different issue,
I have a USB flashdrive and external cd with disc to install with

    Hey FooGoo,
went to the Acer site, but no IRST driver shows up. Good thing i already did this once before and got it before it was discontinued as support on the Acer site. I put the IRST Driver Hot Fix 16.7 on a Flashdrive and during the windows installation when NO DRIVES SHOW UP, i clicked the browse for driver location and selected the driver folder.

but no success. windows installation still could not be completed..........

    Foogoo, hey

    Oh, not the full package?
I unzipped the 5th zip file win10 win11 and been getting no results

    this time it detected
    Drive 0, Partition 1
Drive 0, Partition 2 New Volume
but could not install windows on any of them
    ran into a compatibility issue

heck with it, unzipped them all, for Window 11, installing 10. did it anyways. Loaded ALL drivers one at a time, all 5 of them, load driver manually.

installed windows 8 times, deleted drive, new, format. Then repeat this process and reinstall.
finally a install windows 10 or 11 screen

Only custom installation would install. retried installation after all 5 drivers unzipped and installation completed

Thanks Foogoo, can I give you geek points for this?
    thanks for the picture.
