Can't Load WinME - system.ini file

    I am loading a copy of Windows ME on my backup laptop that has Win98. I am receiving the following error:

    A device file that is specified in the system.ini file is damaged. It may be needed to run windows.
    You may need to run windows setup program again. If the file is included in another software application package, you may need to re-install the software that uses the file.

    looks like your disk is scratched and it cant read the file.

    All i can suggest is that you try and clean the disk the best you can and insert it again and see if it reads it.

    If this does not work you can get the disk repaired. Many places do this, game shops, computer stores. You will just have to find someone in your area.
