   In Safe mode the system tells me that my 4 digit p.i.n. is incorrect. :confused
   
   Rebooting doesn't help.

   Solved.
   
   Seeing that the window into which the password is to be entered was now much longer than it was (for 4 digits) I surmised that it might be looking for my Microsoft password .... it was :-o
