Can't log into Windows 2000

A guy at work gave me his mother's W2K-Pro machine. She can't log in.
The user name is Name. When I ran Winternals E.R.D. and go to Locksmith, Name does not appear in the drop-down list of User Accounts. Three other
account names appear. Re-setting them was an exercise in futility. (Yes I did allow the computer to re-boot fully before trying to access the accounts.)
The Help section mentions the registry hive must be undamaged for Locksmith to work. Maybe it's damaged. Running chkdsk /r didn't help. Any suggestions (besides giving the tower to the Navy as a boat anchor)?

You cannot have the period and the colon after html. It will come up with a 404 error. FYI
