Since within 5 minutes of the first power up a any new computer, it becomes unique with custom settings and program installs. Therefore, while it is too bad that poster did not have the common courtesy to post the solution, there is no certainty it would work for you.

Unfortunately, you gave us nothing to go on. What operating system? What hardware? When did the problem start?

:( Please understand shotgun or cross posting (across the same, or multiple sites) can result in conflicting information, and confusion for you, and those responding. It also ties up volunteer resources so in that respect, is often frowned upon, and not good forum etiquette.

    Thanks, Kestrel12.

im sorry i posted in malware but tim said it might not be malware issue. post in software.
thought it was cause it started after adware alert was recognized as a virus and was subsequently deleted. then when i restarted the problem manifested. i have vista ultimate and a dell dimension 2400

No problem, and thanks for your understanding. If in a similar situation again, include a link back to the previous thread to avoid above mentioned confusions, or the appearance of trying to get help ahead of others.

Log in problems are not indictive of hardware problems, so I suggest this thread be terminated, and you continue along DomLuc's line in the software forum.
