Can't log on to windows xp pro

I had cleaned up some spyware on my neice's puter, with spybot and re-booted but now when I log onto windows it says its loading my preferences and as soon as it does, it goes to saving my preferences, ten back to the logon screen. I suspect that one of the over 40 spywares deleted the registry entry when it was removed or deleted the wininit file. i had backed up the registry before doing anything but don't have a clue where the back up is and can't access it from a network puter anyway.

Any help would be GREAT.

If you have the installation discs for XP Pro, it would be best to reinstall it.
Don't format the drive, simply replace your Windows install.
