I ran the malware removal program and my logs are clean, but I cannot open Internet Explorer. Chaslang has referred me to your board for help.

I can run Mozilla Firefox and surf the web with no problem.

I tried uninstalling IE8 and it did no good. I tried the Microsoft Fixit software and it would not run.

I never had a problem until this latest malware issue.

Can you help me, please. I must use Internet Explorer to run my business software.

What error do you get when you click on IE? I assume you are clicking either a desktop icon or a quick launch icon.
Open Windows Explorer and search for iexplore.exe you will find it inside C:, Program Files, Internet Explorer. Click on it. Does it open?

ie opens but it just sits there showing "connecting...." and it sticks there. There is no error message. I can leave it there for 10 minutes and nothing happens.

I have to close it through ctrl-alt-del

Temporarily turn off your firewall and your antivirus and try IE. Does it connect? If so close IE because we don't want you unprotected on the web.
Now you need to open your firewall and av programs and look for settings that will allow Internet Explorer to get out.

Also, what have you set as your start page in IE?

I have noticed something new. When I install a program like Spywareblaster, or Firefox, etc. no desktop shortcut is created.

When I installed Spyware Blaster I received the message: "CoCreate Instance failed: code 0x80040154. Class not registered."

These programs are installed but I have to go find them in my C drive.

    Any ideas?

I did not find any useful solution to solve this "CoCreate Instance failed: code 0x80040154". Sorry.
I though maybe sfc /scannow would do it but it didn't seem to help anyone who ran it.
