Can't open links or pop up pages in IE

I am running WIN98 SE, IE 6.0 Service Pack 1, Spybot, (Just installed Hijack Blaster, Antivir Antivirus, Zone Alarm, and Sun Java 1.4.2

I started having this problem about a week ago. First thing that happened was when I connected to the internet, the dial-up screen would indicated opening port and just freeze. Even though I was able to open up the browser, but then I couldn’t get the links or pop up pages to open up. I ran spybot and it didn’t find anything. Anyway to make a long story short, here are the actions that I performed trying to correct it.

IE repair tool,
Spybot
Cccleaner
Clean Up
Removed unwanted programs
Upgraded to newer version of Win Client Server (After that it would say the modem is in use) I removed the modem and reinstalled it.
Ran Reg Edit
Edited the IE Tools (Advanced and Security) as instruction in a previous post.
Searched Microsoft help files
Re-installed Internet Explorer
Removed and re-installed Sun Java 1.2.4
I have tried everything and it still won’t display. Help

Hey Aj,

I know you are having trouble opening links so try this if you have problems opening the thread I am going to give you, or the program I posted there. Right click the link and go to properties, click it, highlight the URL and copy it, paste it in the address bar and that should get you there.

Read this thread http://www.majorgeeks.com/vb/showthread.php?t=36148 and see if it sounds like your problem, if so download the program mcrepair that I posted there. You just answer "yes" each time the program informs you that the version of the file of your hard disk is more recent than what's installed, when you are done restart your computer.

Hopefully, this will solve your problem. As for your Hijack log, there is a great tutorial here http://www.majorgeeks.com/vb/showthread.php?t=35407, you may be able to sort out any potential problems. If your not sure about something post your log in Spyware Specific, might get a quicker response.

I read the link, sorry about posting the log file. I jumped before I looked. I will work on correcting whatever is causing it, but I did start using the copy paste function. Also, I found out if I hit the esc key then the f5 key the page will display.
