Cant play age of empires on line

Help I have a D link 514 and 645 sprint modem widows xp with ps2 I go into
msn gaming zone every thing works find till the host launches the game iam
in and it tells me I cant join game I have played on here alot but I was on (dial up) and not sure if iam messing any programs in my computer I went to
dsl and router and just not sure what happen. a neebie that is lost again.
also iam on a small home network to pc wired and 1 lap top wire less everything else works find just want let me play the game ???

Hey thanks guys I got it had to bridge my modem @ router and open some ports

 

hihi tom hope u can help me i just got a netgear router set up and i to now cannot play age of empires and get terminated form the zone really quickly. I see u somehow got over your problem is there any way u can help me...

I have some information that may help with your problems, though it is mainly for hosting games.

First you have to add ports 2300 to 2400 to make the people wanting to play go though the ports to host. the proplem is you have to be on a non wireless conection then type in your ip address on the web. after you do that you need to allso add ports 28800 - 28809. warning that might slow down your connection to your isp. After you do that disable fire wall and upnp.
It will also stop you getting terminated from the zone.
