Good morning, running XP Home SP3 and using Nero v.9.12 with current update.
I've been burning files to DVD. Files in .avi burned before and after the problem disc work fine in an external Panasonic player to TV. But the problem disc creates the dialogue "Can't play this type of disc". The differences in the original file are it is tagged as a video file in file types as opposed to .avi, and it contain some PAL formatting. I am set to NTSC and assume that Nero, when I get the pop up that asks if I want to convert to NTSC and I say yes, will eliminate this as an issue. The same for the original format, whether .avi or .mkv or anything else, Nero during the transcoding procedure will convert to DVD format. What am I missing?
I have been burning to hard disc, that creates a Video_TS folder using Nero Vision, then to DVD using Nero Express. (I realize that Nero Vision can do it all but the two step process seems to make the final DVD compatible with more and different external DVD players.)
This was the first time this has happened so I didn't save the log file having never had reason to before. The file was downloaded from the same source as other downloads all of which work fine. By the way, audio CD's recorded after this problem DVD also all work fine.
Any ideas as to what could be causing this anomaly.
I can convert this "video" file to .avi using Any video Converter (it would take hours) if that would help fix the original file.

Hey Keni, Im not quite sure i follow what you mean....

You mention burning .avi files and "video" files, unless your stand alone dvd player is capable of playing .avi files then it would give an error like the one you mentioned.

If the original file you dl'd was a "video" file [.vob i think] then you need to burn the disc as a vide file not just as a normal disc like you would when burning an .avi file.

Hope this helps as like i said i dont really follow the meaning of your post.
