    Hi Bill

Suprised that the Vista Codec Pack didnt work or have the 'vids:iv32' codec which is an Intel Indeo one, the K-lite pack should have this one as its now not easily available or free from Intel.

I would however remove the Vista Codec pack first and when installing right click the installer setup file and choose "run as administrator" as at times some files dont install correctly in Vista as they dont have permissions to write to the registry etc

I too am surprised that an indeo codec wasn't in the Vista codec pack.
Halo's link should have the codec you require.

I would be very leery of doing the registry edit mentioned in the post you found.
You said it was dated 2006. Vista wasn't released to consumers until January 2007 (I believe).
This fix is most likely for XP.
It involves a fairly simple edit of the registry, but unless you are familiar with such registry changes, I would avoid it.

    Hi Bill

Just noticed this cross forum post and have you tried what Sach2 mentions?

Indeo and the version needed in 3.2 was from Intel and later sold to Ligos Corp, if you are playing off USB or flash drive, try copying the video to your hard drive, has been know to work this way.

But do try what Sach2 posted in your other thread.

Also replied to your PM with a suggestion.

I have had this same issue for over a month it was driving me nuts. All of a sudden, certain .avi files would not play...I could only hear sound and the picture was black. I tried downloading tons of different codec packs, and all kinds of other crap...video programs, convertors, etc, and NOTHING worked. I finally found this site, and downloaded the K-lite codec Full pack, and WALLAH! They worked! I am running Vista and when I first installed it last year I had the same problem and found a codec pack, and the clips played fine. As I said, one day, some of them stopped working and I could only play them with Quicktime and was not able to transfer the clips onto a DVD. I was sooooo happy to find this fix!!!
