Something is seriously wrong with my printer. It was working perfect fine one day and then the next, nothing. All it will print is graphics. Here are the specifics. It was running low on ink, so I changed the cartridges. I have done this plenty of times, so I am pretty sure nothing is wrong there. I have check and quaduple checked. Any way, my printer will not print any text. None. I have ran all the tests recommended by Windows Help menu. I have uninstalled and reinstalled my printer. I have unplugged, uninstalled, reconnected, and reinstalled. I have even resorted to calling it bad names, and then apoligizing. Nothing has worked. What should I try next.

Don't mean this the way its going to sound but as I dont know what steps you have taken I'm going to bite the bullet anyway on the first suggestion.......

Did you remove the protection tabs that are on most new ink cartridges?

Which printer and model do you have?

Did you try your printer manufacturers site for troubleshooting steps to take for your printer?

My printer model is a Canon S600, and I did not take offence to the tab question. I work on computers enough to know some times you have senior moments, and there are time I should have my mouse taken away. LOL So I am hoping for something really stupid like that. The weird thing is that it will print graphics, but not text. The little printer head thingagig goes back and forth like it should. Everthing sounds right. I think I will look at manufacturers site. If you have any other thoughts or ideas let me know.

try going into word and typing something up...doesn't really matter what. anyway, try changing the color of the text from black to bright red and then try to print.

I have those moments as well some days.. but a few other thoughts,

When printing pictures is black also evident?
Did a test page also print ok?

as I was thinking that the black print head may be a bit clogged and need a deep clean routine to clear it up ( deep clean is found in the printer options menus > maintanence tab ) or the print heads are so clogged up the printer heads need cleaning.. I have read that you can take the heads out and wash them in warm water.

or the waste tank warning was needs reseting

OK. IT worked!!!! I changed the color to dark red and it printed. So, the problem is with the black cartridge? That is a start. I know the black cartridge has ink in it. I just lifted it out and gave it the ole' finger test, and it most definitley has ink.

good. now do what halo suggested and look for a print head cleaning option in the printer properties. do that a couple of times and see if it fixes it.

Yea, I did the deep clean. I still can't print in black. I think I will have to try manually cleaning the black printer head. This sounds like fun. I have always been very mechanical.
