cant reboot after XP repair

Hi All

PC still b*****red and eventually took the advice and did a repair from the disc which seemed to go fine. Result is it will not reboot. When the window XP comes up with the blue lights it goes for about 10 seconds at which point the lights on the keyboard and the mouse all flash and the screen freezes. When I try to open in safe mode it scrolls down to
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\windows\system32\drivers\klbg.sys

which means nothing to meI have tried several times and it always stops there.

Any advice would be welcome.

Hello.
klbg.sys is listed as a Kaspersky driver. Can you get into safe mode with command prompt and rename the file?

Unfortunately, what you see on the screen is the last thing that loaded successfully; so the klbg is loaded. The next item, the one you never see is what the computer is stalling on.

you never followed up on the malware removal. Trying to repair windows does not mean the malware was removed. It could still be causing the problems you are experiencing.

Hi chaps

I'd tried to run malabytes before the repair but it would not complete which is when I thought I would go for the repair. I have since done a reinstall but still have the same problem except when I open in safe with command prompt it now scrolls down to multi disk XXXXXXXX\ Drivers\Mup.sys
