The method you would want to use is the following:

    1. Configure BIOS to boot from CD. To do this, please do the following:
    - Restart your machine
    - At the very first window, press the 'Setup' button. This is usually F1, F2, or delete, but the screen will say for sure
    - Look for a section called boot sequence, or order, or startup settings.
    - In this section, we want to set the CD ROM to the top of the list
    2. Insert your XP installation CD
    3. Restart your machine
    4. When prompted, press any key to boot from CD.

This will take you into XP's setup program. Here, you will want to DELETE all partitions, and then format with the NTFS file system. It should be as simple as following the prompts.

PXE stands for Pre-boot eXecution Environment, and usually means that your computer is trying to boot from a network image of an operating system. I would advise you to go into BIOS, disable boot on LAN, and makes sure that your boot sequence includes your hard drive.

Are you saying you do not have an XP disk that came with your computer?

Do you perhaps have a computer that has a hidden partition, like IBM, and a few others that may have windows installer built into that said hidden partition?

If you have no idea, please give us the make and model of your computer.
