I uninstalled it to download VLC Media Player. VLC wouldn't play my DVD, so I uninstalled it, and tried to reinstall WMP. When I do, it tells me that a recent version is already installed. I noticed that the WMP folder is still in my program files. It won't delete. Any help would be appreciated. All I want to do is reinstall WMP.

You are going to have to delete the files and folders threw F8 safe mode WMP is used bye other systems on OS.

    Greetings, bravofan71.

I have seen instances where a reinstallation of the operating system was required in order to fix WMP.

First, though - have you tried reverting (via System Restore) to a time previous to the WMP being removed? If a Restore Point is available it may restore WMP's previous settings - just be advised that a System Restore will revert all of Vista's settings. You will have to reinstall any Windows Updates, etc. that have occurred since the RP date.
