I need to format and reinstall XP, but I've run into a problem I've never encountered before. After hitting a key to boot from CD it says "Setup is inspecting your computer's Hardware configuration..." and then that disappears to black screen then just sits there endlessly. Seems rather unusual to me.
I've formatted this machine before without issue, and this step certainly never took this long (I've left it 5 minutes and still nothing). Its currently set up as a triple boot using Grub which I suppose could possibly throw it off when it inspects the harddrive but I can't see any reason why.

I can't see an edit button, but yes that was the problem. I killed some partitions (luckily I didn't have anything of consequence in vista or linux) and then it proceeded to install normally. Very unusual.
