Cant renew my IP????

Im having trouble with my broadband service, so i called them up to figure out the problem. They eventually asked me to renew my ip address (by going to dos prompt and typing "ipconfig /release" & "ipconfig /renew", and/or going into the properties window and clicking "repair") In the dos prompt ill get "unable to contact the DHCP server".

The wierd part about it is that this happens inconsistantly. Any suggestions?? Could this be a problem with windows?

 

Not likely a problem with Windows. It may happen when your IP address lease expires with the cable folks. It appears likely that the cable company has the issue. When your cable access does come back....do an ipconfig /all and record when your IP address lease expires next. Then see if your problems coinside with that date and time.
