I am having trouble rebooting my ipod touch 5th generation. After I have gone through the required steps, the "Downloading Software for This ipod" box appears. It goes for a long time, then it says the network connection was reset. It says to make sure my network settings are correct and my network connection in active. Well, I'm OK on both counts. Can someone give me some advice? Thanks in advance.

    Can't restore ipod

I just realized that I made an important mistake in a post I entered yesterday, so I am re-posting. I meant to say I can't restore my ipod touch 5th generation. I had written "can't reboot," but that's not correct. I am having trouble restoring my ipod touch 5th generation.

Have you tried restoring it using a different computer? Or if you have a laptop, maybe take it to a friend's house or a public wifi and try using that.

Otherwise, maybe take it to an Apple store. They'll troubleshoot it for free, I believe.

Thanks for the ideas, LauraR. I'm a bit dense on this, however. I would think that anything I would use would have to have ipod touch 5 installed, but it sounds like from your reply that this is not the case. How could I use a public WiFi to do this?

I guess I should have asked if you were using wifi at your home to connect to the internet.

I'm just throwing some ideas out there since I haven't ever had this issue with my touch before.

Since the error you seem to be receiving has to do with a network issue, I thought you might try a different connection.

One thing you can try if you have a laptop is connecting to a different wireless network (ie. a friend's house or a public spot such as a library). Also, if you are using wireless, I would first recommend trying to connect via ethernet cable to your router so you are hardwired into internet.

Also, doing a search, I came up with: http://yourbusiness.azcentral.com/i...on-not-restore-after-latest-update-24417.html

Did you get an actual error code?
Have you done the procedures for a Recovery and then tried to restore?

To answer the question on using a different computer, I know my kids go between computers, but I'm not sure how that works (I stick with one), so scratch that idea as I can't verify it. My guess is that it has to work somehow since people lose their computers for different reasons, so you should be able to hook up an itouch to a different one.

The work-around you provided the link for did not work for me. I used it three times with no luck. I guess I'll have to find an Apple store and have the experts take care of my problem. Thanks a whole lot for your efforts. Much appreciated.
