Cant Run .exe Files??

I have huge problems with my pc as seems no .exe files will run at all, when trying to open any .exe file will get a brief hourglass and then nothing, i thought it might be ZA which is problematic, but have removed that and still persists!!

Any suggestions before i wipe the hard drive and re-install everything - yes i have backed everything up on another pc!

Thanks, tried that and re-booted but no joy! Have checked and entry is still correct after re-booting. Am operating XP with sp2!

Hey open up task manager and look at the process list. When you try and launch a file does the exe name appear in the process list

 

It does appear briefly the first time you double click on it but not if you try again!

what files have you been trying to run.
do any programs run on your computer at all.

 

Yes the pc loads as normal and appears normal but can't run any exe files that i try such as Zone Alarm and other antispyware or antivirus programs!

I think I have this sorted now - it appears to have been a conflict with various anti-spyware programmes running together!
