Cant run GTA ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

My crap system.
Athlon 1200
128MB SDRAM
20GB Samsung HD
Geforce 2 32MB video card (MX 400?)
Unknown sound card (Maybe Creative will be cheap though)

I am having real problems running Grand Theft Auto. The game play is extremely choppy even at low res but runs ok in overhead mode (classic). Ive tried updating video card drivers but it hasnt made any diference. I know i have low amount of ram but a friend has a similar system and has just upgraded to 512MB of RAM and has not really made much difference. Im am now thinking I need to upgrade my video card but I was just wondering before I go and spend money on one if any1 had any ideas to make the game run a little quicker or recommend what things I may need to upgrage to make it run smooth! Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanx in advance

 

I'd say... RAM/MOBO, video card, and harddrive.. it's need how AMd has been useing the socket A for so long, and your CPU isn't really THAT bad. I would say, get a new Nforce2 Motherboard, and 256-512MB of DDR, which would only be able 150$, or get a new vid card like a Geforce4 Ti4200, or a Radeon 9600... and I don't know how much your harddrive will effect the game, but if you have lots of RAM it shouldent make a difference.

 

Make sure you have the patch for GTA first. It makes the game run a bit smoother. You can find the patch here:

Give it a try. You may still need to upgrade your computer, though.
