Can't see part of screen in safe mode

I have an ATI x800 gt vid card, WinXP 64, and I also have a 32" flatscreen as a second monitor (Used for editing video) using extended desktop 1024x768. Under normal conditions everything is as it should be, but in dos and safe mode you can only see 2/3 of the screen because it has dropped a few inches. Just to show that I do my homework, this is the closest thing I could find at the ati site.

Symptoms:
Catalyst Control Center does not scale/center standard 4:3 resolutions (800x600, 1024x768, 1280x1024). It simply stretches them to fill the entire screen. It does seem to work for other resolutions (1440x900, 1400x1050, 1360x1024, 1360x768).


Solution:
Scaling is being performed by display.

ATI Engineering has been advised of this issue and is investigating. Any updates will be published when they become available.

 

...when saying that it is your second monitor...your saying that as in your running dual screen correct?

 

It is what they call "Extended desktop", meaning the second monitor (the 32") will just play the video at full screen, and not just a clone of the desktop. And all that is fine. But when in safe mode or dos, you can't see the bottom part of the screen.
