Can't Send Executables

For the past couple of weeks, whenever I try to email an executable (.exe) I get a message that says "This attachment contains items that are potentially unsafe. Recipents using Microsoft Outlook my not be able to open these attachments. Do you want to send anyway?"

When I click YES (because I always Norton Scan attachments before sending them) it goes out, but the executable never reaches my recipient. I thought perhaps the security parameters may have been set too high in Outlook, so I attempted to send it out via Netscape Mail (same smtp server: Verizon). Still wouldn't send the attachment.

I then tried sending via my Yahoo.com and mail.com accounts
    To no avail.

Someone suggested that it may be my router.
Is that so? And if so, can someone tell me how to change it?
[A friend set up my wireless system, and I'm clueless about it - although the executables were able to go throught the router up until a couple weeks ago]

Using Windows XP-Home and Outlook 2002

Zip the executables, then email them.

Outlook strips them from the message.

So do some mail servers (mine does).
