im trying to see what linux is all about was going to dual boot with windows 8 but i cant shrink past 13,000MB (13GB) i figure it requires a bit of hard drive space to install like 20gb or 25gb. it does defrag by default weeklyso somewhere i have a file or something because i have 70% free space of my 650gb hard drive and yes this will be my first time using linux

I would not recommend starting a linux experiment on a windows 8 computer.

Also google UEFI. There are work arounds but as a new linux explorer, starting on a windows 8 computer present problems that other versions od windows do not have. I'd advise to start easier and use an older version of windows to experiment with linux.
