cant start properly, please help

hi guys, to start off i got a pretty much brand new computer....a few months old am running vista home prem.

i got an update notice on my computer today from HP, there was two updates and i downloaded both, they were both pretty small files, one was simply titled "hp update 4.3" or something along those lines. the other was a audio update.

Now since doing that, when i start my computer i get a black screen with white writing that says "windows cant start properly" and askes if i want to start windows normally or do a start up repair. I choose start up repair and then it loads a screen which then "attempts to repair" the problem. another screen pops up soon after saying the problem is found and to click finish to restart the computer. I do so, windows starts normally but then down in the right hand corner a icon pops up saying new device driver installed from hp....then askes me to restart the computer, i do that and it all starts over again!!!

Will your PC start up in Safe Mode? When you push the start button on your PC, tap F8, & choose to start in Safe Mode. Once in safe mode, see if it will let you do a Scan Disk. Do you know how to do that? I'm not sure what your problem is, so this is just an idea. Also if you can start up in Safe Mode, see if it will let you do a System Restore back to an earlier date. Just a few ideas. Please keep us posted on your progress. Good Luck!

im replying from a friends computer, last night i was a tad impatient and thought ild remove HP connections from the list of programs that start up when i turn the computer on....now when i turn on the comp it gets to the start up repair screen and just loads and loads...and keeps going.

but later on i will try to get it going in safe mode.

and what do you mean a scan disk? you mean for viruses etc? im prety sure it isnt malware....it was from hp...so i dont really know whats going on.
