cant start up xp

I have a HP pavillion 763n. recently my mom opened an e-mail that was a Thank You. ( Possibly thank you virus????) Windows xp will not load an error message comes up
drwtsn32.exe application error, application failed to initialize
and
dwin.exeapplication error, application failed to initialize

have tried to restart
have gone into dos by pressing f8 when restarting and tried to rboot
have tried to reconfigure by pressing f1 and resetting date
nothing has worked. Do I need to take cp to be cleaned and restored??? or is there something I can do to fix it.

Do you have an original copy of XP you can boot with

Yes I have tried rebooting in the safe mode. It just sits there and the error message comes up. Is there anything special I can do in safe mode to try to get it to work. Have tried rebooting, start at last known working version, etc... It just sits there and runs

NO I do not have original xp copy. came pre-installed
any other suggestions

Thanks for your help everyone. It turns out the computer contracted the bagle (sp?) virus. $250 dollar service and overnight in the shop repared it. Be very caution when getting any e-mail that needs a code typed in to open it. This virus infected around 700 files. What a mess. For more info on this virus check out Virus Software Updates.
