cant turn on windows firewall

In an attempt to fix this I ran the Command Prompt as an Administrator and typed "SFC /SCANNOW" a scan ran this took all of two minutes and it was absolutely no help saying that "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations."

Next I ran "Services" by pressing 'Win' + 'R' and typing "services.msc", scrolled down to Windows Firewall (Which was not running). I double clicked the service bringing its options. Under the 'General' tab I clicked on start service and I got this error returned "Windows could not start the Windows Firewall service on Local [COMPUTER_NAME]. Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start."
Note: where I have written [COMPUTER_NAME] this was just to hide my actual computer name.

I dont know what to do know

I followed all the instruction in those links and it didnt help unfortunately as for the second link its not compatible with windows 8.
