Can't underclock my CPU

I have an AMD Thunderbird 1.33Ghz running on a Gigabyte 7DX mobo.

I'm experiencing some problems with my CPU/mobo/RAM which I won't mention simply because the only way I can solve this is by trial & error as the possibilities are endless.

As part of my attempt to fix my problems I want to underclock the CPU to bring down the tempratures. Using the Easytuner III utility supplied by Gigabyte I tried to underclock to 1200Mhz, 1100MHz and 950Mhz. In all attempts the CPU completely froze.

What can I do to underclock my CPU and why does it freeze?

don't know why it'd freeze when you're underclocking it, however an effective way to under- or overclock your cpu is by entering the bios and setting the multiplier and/or front side bus speed higher or lower.

 

yuvalfr, Is your fan working? System fans and CPU fans (if fitted)? High temperatures may be your problem because fan/s aren't working. Bazza

Yea just underclock it in bios, the software you are using to try and underclock may be causing the freeze. I don't think just underclocking the cpu by the fsb will help a lot with high temps, usually when overclocking you raise the fsb to a certain point were you need to raise the vcore and raising the vcore is what raises temps.
