    Hi guys,

I've been having those BSODs with the driver power state failure message.

    I'm running Windows 7 RC x86 build 7100.
    Asus M3N78-VM
    AMD Athlon X2 5000+
2 gigs of Kingston 6400 RAM
    Asus 8800gts
    2x500gb (Seagate and WD)

I was running Windows XP Pro till the Windows 7 RC became available. I had no problems whatsoever for months with XP.

My problem is that i can't get the correct symbols to analyze the minidumps to see where it points at. And it would be my first time doing so since i didn't know much about it and i wanna keep Windows 7 running. Here's the symbol file path I entered in Windbg:

    SRV*c:\symbols*http://msdl.microsoft.com/download/symbols

And here's what i get when i load a minidump file:

    Microsoft (R) Windows Debugger Version 6.11.0001.404 X86
Copyright (c) Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

    Loading Dump File [C:\Windows\Minidump\051409-17425-01.dmp]

    Executable search path is:

I got as many drivers updated as i could, but i'm aware that since it's an RC, there could be no easy fix to this.

Any help with this would be appreciated. I'm including a zip of 2 of those minidumps if somebody can check em for me.

    Thanks a lot

    Hi

While you had no issues with XP this would be normal, the move to a beta or RC version of a operating system is different as some hardware, software and drivers may not work as expected, hence the need for beta and RC tests, this is a test Windows version and should not be used in a main or production PC!

0x0000009f BSODs generally lead to a incompatible driver, so double check and update all your drivers, I did not myself in one of the early betas that my network driver caused this BSOD, to look to start with for an updated network driver for your card or motherboard.

Also what yellow ! marks do you have in device manager? as you do have a fairly new mobo so make sure you have updated BIOS and installed the chipset driver, which in an Nvidia one

or this beta Nvidia driver http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_win7_32bit_15.37.html

    Hello,

    Thank you for your answer.

First things first, Asus do not provide drivers for my mobo for windows 7 yet. But i updated my Nvidia components with the 15.37 nforce drivers and the 185.85 graphics driver.

Now the real point of my post was to find a way (or somebody that could do it for me) to analyze a minidump of my crashes.

I do know that it's a test version, but i know i could solve this simple driver problem and find one that suits windows 7 if i could debug that minidump and identify the culprit.

    Thanks
