Can't write to CD

I've used Adaptec CD Creator before and it was easy. But it's not working now.
When I try to format the CD-R with the Adaptec Wizard, I get this error message

Ërror. Reserve Devise Reserved by another process 0x8000001a.

I have no idea what this means. Can anyone help?

you may want to try reinstalling it, then try again.

 

If you try another burn prg, does it work then? If not you might have a problem with your drive. If it works though you might wanna go with mellowmans suggestion.

 

I reloaded the software and that didn't make any difference. Could anything else be useing the drive? That's what the message seems to say.

so it seems like the drive letter has been reassigned or something. I obviously have no idea.

Any other ideas anyone?

hmm...

yeah the drive could be 'locked'. it has that function that allows the burn prg to lock the drive to make a safe burn. it's so you won't accidently hit the eject button and destroy the cdrw.

but in this case... I'd say something's not entirely correct with the drive. in windows that is. you could try powering off, pull the IDE cable, power on, power off, reinstall the IDE cable then power on again. the drive should have got a different drive letter now and if that was the problem it should be working.

it still may very well be a faulty drive though. if all else fails try another burner.

try goin to START , control panel, admin tools, then turn ur IMAPI swingy off or to manual, thiat helps alot of stuff
