caps lock sucks

So heres what i want to do. when i play counterstrike i use my caps lock button all the time. im just sick of it actually turning on so when i type, my letters are all caps and bothers me because then i have to go back to type it out without caps lock on. just out of courtesy. not because of those instant messager fanatics say its "yelling" when caps is on, ITS JUST BECAUSE CAPS LOCK IS ANNOYING. see that annoyed you.

my question...is there any way to disable caps lock making the text caps and still have the button itself enabled so i can still use it? any registry tweaks or anything i can do?

 

I have the same issue, I use CAPS for crouch.
In DoD 1.3 and CS 1.6 there were no CAPS so it was never a problem.
I think it's the price we pay for all the crazy characters and junk you can now use in nicknames in the HL2 mods.
I would like to see this fixed but I'm not holding my breath. I just cop the whinging for the "OOOOO STOP YELLING, CAPS!!!!!"

 

Use two keyboards, one for gamimg, and one for typing.
And to think I grew up without a remote control :mad .

There is a program called Toggler, another called Clever Keyboard Indicator, and a few others that are VBScript. I have not used these programs, so I can not vouch for them.

A low tech solution is simply to prise off the caps lock key. Then training yourself to use the shift key to obtain the occasional capital letter.

 

nah max. im not even worried about anything in caps. if i took out the caps lock id have to train myself to use ctrl and shift...not gonna happen. been playing the same way for 4+ years.

ill check out those VB programs and see what happens.

I have a Logitech MX 3200 Cordless Desktop set, mouse and keyboard, and really miss the LED's that used to appear on the old corded keyboards.

Logitech's Setpoint software loads a headsup display when you press Caps Lock, or Num Lock, but it only flashes on the monitor, briefly, and is useless, IMO.

Install it and you get an icon box down by the clock (in the Notification area)

A half sized Capital "N" appears when Num Lock is on and a half size Capital "C" appears when Caps Lock is on.
Both appear on top of each other, so only take up 1 space in the tray.

Essential for anyone wth a Cordless keyboard, of any make, for anyone who misses the "olden day" LED's.

It works well, it is cheap, uses 2 megs of RAM and solves the problem of missing LED's in any cordless keyboard beautifully, IMO.

I've never used a wirless keyboard, only a wireless mouse, once. so thought your original post was laughable. Have looked into purchasing one in the past, and think Bluetooth is probably the way to go, and also the more expensive. No Cap Lock light is to save battery power? A 42 inch monitor would be nice, especially over a digital line. The lady of the house could use the computer without her glasses, or contacts, even with the screen resolution cranked up. But I will need to go wireless with keyboard and mouse to do that, she doesn't like all these cords running around now. Guess I need to get a second job. Life is Good, but it doesn't come cheap.:wine
