    Hello again,

This is a problem that I've been working to resolve for the better part of a week now.

One of our users is unable to log into a website because the CAPTCHA window does not appear. This is not a problem with any of our users and I have been able to see it on my workstation without issue.

When I attempt to log in using her computer, it says that internet explorer has blocked content due to credential issues. I adjusted her security settings to allow activex to download automatically (which enables a security risk so I leave it open only as long as it takes to reopen this website), which has resolved the issue on other computers but isn't doing anything on this one.

I've reinstalled IE7. I've also installed Firefox to see if this problem was being caused by IE7 but am still running into the same problem. I think it's a java issue. I've updated Java. When I go into java controls and view java runtime versions I notice two versions running. I have tried disabling one product to see if it was interfering with the other, but it keeps reenabling itself.

This is as far as I've gotten. Unfortunately, it is critical that this user be able to access the website which she cannot do from her workstation. I would appreciate any input and/or assistance.

    Hi

What Windows version and Service Pack?

I would do a full uninstall of Java Runtime and follow the below:

reboot and try again, if that doesnt work disable any security applications installed and test again as a 3d party security application could block java scripts.

Thanks I'll give that a try.

Oh and sorry. We're running Windows XP with a Service Package 3 on all our user workstations.

Unfortunately that had no effect. I got rid of the older version of java that was running but it's still not displaying CAPTCHA. IE7 still blocks uncertified content even though I've relaxed the security settings so that they should let activex material (what I assume may be the problem at this point) install.

    HI

If its happening on Firefox then its unlikely to be ActiveX related as it doesnt use ActiveX content.

have you rebooted this PC yet? sometimes option only work once a reboot has been done.

Are you running through a corporate network and if so do you have content management filters (websense is one such)?

I would as you now have current Java installed, reset windows on that PC only to test, and click Tools > Internet options > Advanced and Reset right at the bottom, then run CCleaner and its Cleaner tool.

Then open IE again and goto the webpage and check if not then copy the URL and click Tools > Internet Options > Security tab and click Sites and add the URL as a trusted site, then close IE and reopen and test.

if that doesnt work open IE again and navigate to Tools > Internet Options > Advanced and check if the Allow Blocked Content box is ticked if not tick it and restart IE, Just doing this to test a feature as its not always wise to enable this option.

If that doesnt work, what Security applications do you have installed? the reason for asking is if yours has Ad blocking then that could cause this. So in the same vain, on this PC open the No Addons mode of IE (found in Accessories > System Tools) and see if that works?

Ok I wasn't aware of the fact that firefox doesn't use activex. Good to know.

Yes we've rebooted the system multiple times after trying out different remedies.

We run through a business network and domain, but this user is the only one having problems getting access to this website, compared to the almost two hundred others who aren't having this problem.

I've already added the site to the trusted sites (one of the first things I did, actually). I've also already checked the "Allow Blocked Content" box to make sure that wasn't aprt of the problem.

We're presently running Sunbelt's VIPRE. As I've said before, this is the only user having this sort of problem so I'm under the belief that it is something to do with her settings. I have a few ideas that I'm going to pursue next chance I get (I need to let her do some work today, afterall) and I'll try your process of resetting windows to test. I had found a site about trying IE without addons so I was going to try that as well to see if that solves the problem.

Would it be likely that an addon that affects IE7 could also affect firefox?

Are you using roaming profiles? If not, can she log into another computer and try it there?

It doesn't appear to be an addon issue. I ran windows without addons and we're still having the same problem.

It continues to give me the following alert:
To help protect your security, Internet Explorer has blocked this website from displaying content with security certificate errors. Click here for more options...

I tell it to display blocked content but that doesn't have any effect.

I have, so far, reinstalled windows, reinstalled java, turned down security settings to let a new certificate load, etc, even installed firefox to see if it would work through that browser. No luck.

I had her log into another computer and she was able to see the CAPTCHA prompt. So it is something specific with her computer.
