Sorry GK, I believe it was proven to have been staged; but then again, so were the moon landings.

 

I keep hearing that about the moon landings. Seems like a good telescope like the Hubble could settle it once and for all, not that it needs proved. Personally, if we don't get our act together someone else will have a field day stripping the gold off the landers and whatnot. The flags have probably disintigrated to dust by now.

It may have ended it WWIII, but I've often thought we'd have a robust lunar program if Armstrong had said something like "I hearby claim these territories in the name of the United States of America!".

Where'd you hear the car accident audio clip was staged?

I always play the straight guy when it comes to the moon landings being fake; years ago, someone started a thread here claiming he knew they were fake after analyzing all this photography/shadow/horizon/fluttering flag horsepoop, I just ran with it to keep him off Ritalin. My best argument for the landings being fake is at the time of Apollo, over 400,000 people were working on the program to some degree. I don't know 10 people that could keep a secret, much less 400,000.

Nothing up there has disintegrated yet, it hasn't been there long enough; I suspect much of it has been pounded by meteorities and micrometeorites, but should still be in fairly decent shape.

The moon is too close for Hubble to image it clearly. And if there is any value in mylar to someone, more power to anyone that can get up there and get it; that's all the gold to be found on those ships.

There was a treaty in place at the time; the first country landing there could not claim it.

Someone threaded this "accident" audio several years ago here; I believe Snopes or some similar site had disproven the authenticity of it.

 

Last week I started reading about how the moon landing was faked because of a clip on poetv.com and I thought the conspiracy theories were pretty entertaining. Then I read a website that debunked all the so-called facts for the moon landing being fake and that made the conspiracy theorists look pretty stupid.

Oh, and my girlfriend and I listened to the Car Accident recording and we didn't laugh. I guess I should go to a doctor now.
