Car salesmen are punks

Went to a local dealership to look at some trucks. I am going to compare pricing soon between this dealer and Dave Smith Motors in Idaho. DSM offered me a killer deal on a new 04 truck. I am considering flying out to Idaho to drive the thing back. But before I do that I figured I would check out the local dealer who is supposed to be #1 chevy dealer.

Get there, tell the guy that greets me , look I am just here looking there is no way I am buying a new vehicle today unless its 16 dollars because that's all I have in my wallet. So he tags along with me while Im looking, pushing , pushing , pushing..... finally he says I'll be right back, I have another customer I need to check with. I say fine, im just looking anyway not buying....

The guy comes back with two other salespeople, not one but two. They basically surround me and really start the pushing of a new vehicle. I mean completely surround me, I am standing at the hood of a truck and they wouldn't let me out.

Finally I had to tell Habib to get the blank out of my way Im not buying a truck. I had to literally move the guy out of my way.

WTF are these guys thinking? They can intimidate me into buying a vehicle?

Can't remember the last time I had one call. The do not call list is definitely working.
Anyway, I just always hung up on 'em.

If you ever or anybody ever has any problems with a dealership of any reason big or small the best thing you can do is firmly and politely tell whomever it is that is giving you grief, that you may very well be contacting the Dealer Licensing Board

No dealership or salesman wants them looking down their necks. The fines they dish out are steep, they can shut the dealership down for investigation, trust me, no dealer wants you to file a report no matter how small.

Also if you're having an ongoing trouble with your phone service, just go online and report to the FCC. Works like a champ.

So give the manager a chance to remedy his people but make sure you mention that you may file a complaint with the Dealer Licensing Board. And if your not satisfied with the managers responce, File The Complaint. Save the next people the harassment.

It was fun, but then Prescott is a small town peopled by "just folks" and your neighbors. Learned a lot about people in pressure situations. Buying a car is a big decision, especially a new car. It's your second biggest purchase after your house. In a small town there is NO pressure so selling cars was more of a fun thing, I would imagine, than it is in the "big city."

 

Prescott pronounced Presskit, doh. Went there once, drove out from LA. Nice roads leading in from the south. Small towns are Soooo Cooool

 

I believe Southwest flies to Boise.

What a annoyance. I had a friend who had a $3500 cash deal on a used car. F&I man insisted on a credit app. The deal was done and the cash was shown.. F&I strolls out in about 10 mins, asking where the credit app was. "It is next door buying a car for LESS money."

 

Or, talk to your bank. Get them to tell you how much money they will loan you on a given make and model with all the stuff you want. Then, hit the agencies and offer them 500 to a thousand less than that. As for F&I, that guy should have been dragged over his desk by the collar and talked to quietly but seriously about whether he wanted his nose to remain the way it was or be smashed flat against his face. Usually works

CP - Maybe I'm overyly cautious, but shouldn't you have covered up your license plates? Don't ask me why (maybe identity theft reasons, etc.), but that's the second impression I got after I was looking at your car. Nice!
