card reader problems

    When I ran XP I could insert the SD card and browse the contents and such w/o having to install any additional drivers. Now that I have Windows 7 this is not the case. Nothing I insert in the SD slot reads. my multi card reader is a Chipsbank 1 , any help would be much appreciated

    Was this an upgrade install of Windows 7 from XP or a clean install?

    In Device Manager are there any yellow ! marks and if so by what? in many cases the chipset driver for your PC make and model or motherboard is missing and is needed in many cases to allow USB items like card readers to be recognised.

    So will also need the Make and Model of your PC if an OEM one like DELL, HP etc or the Motherboard Make and Model if like ASUS, Gigabyte etc



    Normally I'd check and the maker but they want to register for downloads http://www.chipsbank.com/downloads_e.asp also would need the exact model, although they generally should work with the built in mass storage driver in XP, Vista and Windows 7, although it may not be Windows 7 compatible so maybe an email to the support line at Chipsbank or to the maker of your PC.

    and your device probably uses CBM4082. I don't see a controller download.
    Download the pdf and see if Win 7 is supported.

    At this point, if it is an external reader, buy another that says it works with Win 7. If it is internal, go to the website of your computer manufacturer and look for any Win 7 drivers.

    links not working , i was led to believe external card readers that were vista compatible were also windows 7 compatible also
