    Hello All,
I am having difficulty with a card reader at the moment.
It seems that every card I put in there can only be read once by this card reader, then every other PC wants to format the SD card.

I have now lost 2 cards a sandisk extreme III 2gb SD card, and an integral 2 gb SD card.

Could the card reader be corrupting the SD cards?

Yes, a reader can corrupt a card.
Yes a reader can destroy a card
I had a card reader that for some reason, I guess I had a brain freeze , let it destroy 4 SD cards. the first one I thought was a mistake, and the card was faulty, the second one same issue, the 3rd one I got suspicious and the forth one confirmed it.
Readers and extremely inexpensive and now days so are most cards. If you feel you have a faulty reader get another one and start fresh.
Buy it, keep the receipt and if you have the same problem take it back to the store get your money back, then you will know that the problem may be with your PC.

Hang on here and someone will probably give you another opinion on the problem that may save you time and another card.

I have seen a card reader on ebay that has a floppy drive combined, Are these any good?

Card reader AND floppy??? Yes, but to be honest with you I Do not use it a lot (the floppy). I installed it because saves me space in this mini case; in addition, the card reader-writer does not (a least this model) read-write many kind of cards. So, if you like the idea of installing one, try to find one that read-write as many card formats.

I've personally never come across one so I can't give you an opinion on it. They aren't that much where you have to bid on them. If you need just a reader thats the one I would stick with but if you need a floppy also then as a way to save space , go for it...
