Cards.DLL file appears to be corrupt

I am trying to install the Free Cell card game and I get the following message: "Error Starting Program
The C:\Windows\System\Cards.DLL file appears to be corrupt. Reinstall the file and then try again."
I found the file. I assume I'm supposed to delete it -- by right-clicking and hitting delete, I assume. But how to I reinstall it? (And how do I delete it, if I'm not right in my assumptions.)

 

Freecell is a "Windows component". Go to Add/Remove Programs, click the tab for "Windows Components" (I think it's called), find Games and uncheck them. Click OK as many times as necessary to get out, and the Windows games should be gone. Go back in & re-check them to reinstall them.

 

Do I do this AFTER I get rid of the cards.DLL file?

 

No, cards.dll should be removed automatically during the uninstall.

I swear I tried this once before, but whether I did or not, it worked this time and I'm grateful for your help.

 

No sweat. That generally works with any of the Windows components in there.
