Hi all

Just loaded an SD card into an acer aspire m1640, never done before, and it locks the system in any viewing software
Whats going on please

On the front of your SD card does it say SD or SDHC?

How big is the card?

Yer it's what I thought ... trust me I had the same problem ... I'd you leave it it will eventually say the drive is inaccessible. Basically SDHC are the latest and greatest of high speed Secure Digital cards, theres SDHC 2 SDHC 4 and SDHC 6, the numbers been the maximum transfer speed. These cards are also of 4GB or greater. A standard, inbuilt card reader that is more than approximately a year old will not read it. It is not SDHC compatible. Some inbuilt ones STILL aren't SDHC compatible, however most current external card readers are, I bought an Apacer 5 in 1 for about $20, it works great with mine, mine being a 4GB SDHC 4.

Having difficulty opening esp excel files from yahoo email on Int Exp???

Wants to save to file, then when you DC on the file there is a message that says cannot see file
Go inot excel, open file in all files and OK

Baffling!!

Use yahoo mail on IE

Same aspire cannot open excel files

wants to save as file

Ok save to desktop but cannot open , error message says cannot find file

If you open from within Excel its ok

Must be a PC issue as on laptop no issues

cannot reload Excel as the DVD drive not working!!! Drivers etc seem to be fine

Do a right click on My Computer, click Manage, select Device Manager and then go to View and click Show Hidden Devices, after this see if you can find a group called CD/DVD Drives, then see if your DVD drive is in there.

The drive seems to be there ie showing hidden drives did not show anything different

Just put another DVD writer into the box and same issue...

Have I erased DLL files somehow in Windows

Drive light flashed to recognise something is there but fails to "boot" anything
