my fan is very loud and after about 8 years, I have randomly decided I want a new one lol

I have a dell dimension 4700 and was wondering if this fan will work LINK I pretty sure my dell has a 92mm fan

Dell uses a proprietary fan but from what I have looked up, the new fan should work but I will just get an error message every time I turn the comp on (which I can probably disable in the registry)

I just want to make sure it will work before I get it

    Hi M187

I would email Dell support and double check as like you said they use propriety hardware and I have read that some users changing the back fan have hit snags with other fan types.

The size should be fine in the fan is a 90mm x32mm depth and the instructions for changing are here

On that particular fan you have the option to power it from either your Mobo or the PSU.
I have been changing fans for a few weeks now trying to get the best airflow possible because i have a GTX290 GPU that is under stress 24/7 and the only thing i find powering from the PSU is that i can not control the speed, it just runs at max all the time.
The noise is not huge but it is there always in the background.
