PICS", linked directly from my ISP webspace so there isn't an annoying transferlimit :)
Pics are 1280*1024 taken with Minolta Dimage XT 4.2MP cam, JPEG, "Fine".
There are 2 pictures in there of the new LCD monitor I got, which is attached to the old computer. the pics are #7 and #8, so if you're not interested in the modding pics, but do want to know what the Philips 170S4 LCD looks like, hit 7 & 8.

    VERY nice, clean job :)

Just rather surprised that you decided to put them on the side of the case. Although this blows air straight onto your mobo, heatsink and stuff, it also disrupts the airflow going from front to back through the case, which can have an adverse affect.

But I too have 2 case fans on the side ;)

I have 2 front intakes, 2 side intakes, 2 back outtakes, 1 blowhole (outtake @ top) and if you're gonna be pedantic then 2 psu fans.

that's the reason I've put them on the side of the case, there is no other airflow except for those 120mm fans and the 60mm fans my PSU has.
Besides, they're too big to fit in front and back of my case.

    Thanks for the compliment :)

np. Well, I just cheated as far as my case was concerned... I just bought it all pre-modded :) 7 fans, a window, Hardcano... all done for me. Ah, where would I be without Thermaltake... ;)

Nice clean job there m8 and looks like you managed to do it while still wearing a nice suit lol
how are they working any drop in temps
also do you get much noise with those 120mms as i want to put one of those in the top of my case but with all the other fans i got (9) its a bit noisy already

temps before: (cpu, idle, case open): 42*C
temps before: (cpu, 100% stressed, case open): 48*C
temps now: (cpu, idle, case closed): 32*C
temps now: (cpu, 100% stressed, case closed): 35*C

Noise is okay, it did get a bit noisier, I'll see if I can make a recording of how my case sounds with the 120mm fans added in.

Good temps. 120mm fans shouldn't make too much noise in general.

nah they don't, the step from 0 fans to two 120mms is quite big though, surprised me :D

    lol :D

A couple of months ago I didn't know the first thing about overclocking, and still had an old HP case with one case fan. Now I'm an addict. Gotta have that daily overclock injection :) hehe. Keeping the temps down is just as important as the speed. I've got a Hardcano on the front of my case to give me the temp of the CPU core all the time. If you haven't got one, you should get one. The best thing about my PC, and probably the most useful ;)

I'm using MBM 5, though not as accurate as the HArdCano it's still very usefull :)

I've never heard of that one. Still, I need a new fan control/temp monitor myself. This one looks rather ancient and only gives me one temperature reading. I want loads!!! :D But I've got to upgrade my graphics card first (that's urgent...) to a ATI Radeon 9600 pro or something like that, then I need a new CPU - Barton 2500 of course, then I'll have upgraded every component in my PC. Time to start over :D

rofl, going to build a new pc in dec. :)
hopefully have enough money for a 64bit system :)

as for mbm 5, it's free and it's software.

Motherboard Monitor 5 is it's full name, can be downloaded from MG's front page :)

    Two 120mms?

    Gotta question ...

I understand that it's not a good idea to put two hefty boys, like those 120s, in a stock case; the (board's) power construction wasn't made two handle duals. So, what does one do to accomodate the power uppage?

    Thanks,

    Starkman

    Re: Two 120mms?

The only problem with old mobos is if you plug the fans into the mobo. You can purchase many fans (even big ones) that connect directly to the PSU through molex connectors. All that matters there is if your PSU can handle the extra load.

Ah! well, that changes things then!

Ah, okay. Strange, because it was in a recent edition of MaximumPC (Fall, 2003) where I found the information about running dual fans. They didn't state that it could be done if you used the PSU directly. So, I'm going to make a little ol' note in my puter notes about this.

    Thanks,

    Starkman

they're plugged in to the mainboards fan headers on my board, even though I could use a 3pin to 4 pin connector to plug them directly into the psu. If your mainboard is new enough (and most can nowadays) it's no problem as long as your psu can take it.
