I’ve been bitten by my cats a few times & my hand has swelled where the puncture marks were. Cat teeth/mouth are full of bacteria.

 

My mother bought Teddy, a black tabby and ragdoll cross.

 

I bet Teddy is gorgeous.

Cat bites are serious, as it carries bacteria leading to infections. I've had (accidental) cat bites and scratches from my pets when playing, and always immediately treated them to avoid infection, so never a drama. Now I keep my current cat's nails trimmed (he doesn't mind my cutting his claws, keeping them long, but close enough to the quick to remove the sharps).

So we're both happy and safe as I keep him as an indoor cat.

His predecessor was outdoorsy, always came home when called and snuggled me, "bum to bum" in bed. So I never trimmed that cat's nails, to ensure he could climb trees and fences and defend himself if needed - his claws were wonderfully sharp.

The one time I remember, a stray's bite had my hand immediately swell to double its size, red and sensitive to touch. So I rushed to Emergency Ward for injections and stitches. A friend recently had a deep cat bite she didn't worry about, then was rushed to Emergency a couple of days later.

So, never let any type of bite go unattended, for your own safety.
