Cause for Concern or Not?

Win V-32: I used Revo to uninstall an older version of Sun Java JRE then installed the patched version (6.0.100.33). However, Secunia Online Software Inspector tells me I still have the unsecure version:
"This installation of Sun Java JRE 1.6.x / 6.x is insecure and potentially exposes your system to security threats!

The detected version installed on your system is 6.0.60.2, however, the latest patched version released by the vendor, fixing one or more vulnerabilities, is 6.0.70.0."

Can you explain the contradiction & failure to recognize the installed version?

2. Secunia tells me to update Macromedia Flash Player 7.x But this doesn't show up in the Revo list of programs. Is it the same as Adobe Flash 10 Plugin?

One more time: I don't see Macromedia Flash Player 7.x listed among programs. Is it hiding somewhere, same as Adobe Flash, or what?

Mark: I don't see anywhere in my posts where I've been discourteous or exhibited "pushiness." If you object to my use of "one more time," it's because I think you have not answered or addressed my question. Imagined discourtesy or "pushiness" over such trivia may be your paranoia only & certainly not intended by me.

One of you needs assistance and the other is able to provide assistance. I'm sure you can both negotiate this without any attitude in a tech forum There is always the option for either of you to step away from the thread if time out is required.

Flash player is notorious for leaving behind remnants when the new versions are installed/updated.

There is an easy fix though. Download the Flash Player Uninstaller and save it to your desktop.

Run the uninstaller program and then reboot your computer to complete the uninstall.

Download and install the latest version of Flash Player

Hi Hermit

Just as a comment I have had this a few times with Secunia in that it will pick up a file thats linked to an application even if you have uninstalled it via Add/Remove, the problem in many cases is a poor uninstaller that leaves old files.

In Secunia you can hover over the insecure name and check the loaction of where that flash file is loacted and generally the file type is an .ocx and located here C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash and could be named like flash7e.ocx

The uninstaller Evilfantasy posted is great tool, but if Secunia still mentioned this file, try checking the location of the file and delete it, especially if its an old .ocx file.

Ta, Halo. I used Revo for the initial uninstall, but apparently some threads were left behind. FP Uninstaller has cleaned up everything. Is Revo not everything it's cracked up to be?

IMHO Revo is top notch. The files that were left were in the Flash Player folders. Revo saw those folders as needed, and they were because there were also good files in there, so it didn't clean them.
