My step-son is getting a new Acer One D250 for Christmas. I've notice that the quality the online CBS videos are better on my Dell than the ACER is this because of the codecs used or the video memory card? The problem I am seeing is that the Acer CBS vidoes are pixelated and the videos on the Dell are smooth like HD. What are the best codecs to download (free)? The acer has Windows XP. The dell has Win 7 RC1, it has alway had good codecs because of the software that comes with it.

Might want to give this a try in the software section. Im sure youll get better answers there.

I don't think it's a codec thing, it's more likely due to hardware differences, like video card or even the processor.

I agree with thesmokinggun. You could check each of the video cards that come with each computer and I'm sure you'll see the Dell has a better vid card than the Acer laptop.

It's mostly a hardware thing. With my desktop, I sit back several feet and watch the shows, with the acer netbook, I'm up close and can see the lack of detail. I have added a Video card on my dell.
