    I have CCleaner (v 3.12.1572) on a Dell Laptop running Windows XP SP3.

    It has done a good job, but I have noticed something I would like some help with. It pertains to the Registry Cleaner portion.

    When I first ran CCleaner's Registry tool, it found many issues and fixed them. Now, when I run it it finds this error:

    Problem: Missing TypeLib Reference
    Data: IBackupLocationsShellFolderImpl {00020424-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}
    Registry Key: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\{F0E3A5D7-80C7-4228-90FE-61DF01C417A5}

    Every time I run it this problem is found. It is "checked". I select "Fix Selected Issues". I then get this message with the "Fix Issue" confirmation screen :

    The TypeLib referenced at: Interface\{F0E3A5D7-80C7-4228-90FE-61DF01C417A5} could not be located. These references are often left behind after uninstalling software.

    Solution: Delete the registry key.

    If I select "Fix Issue" CCleaner reports "Issue Fixed". However, when I run CCleaner again, there is the same issue. Even if I run CCleaner immediately, again, the same issue is there.

    If I "Right Click" on the issue and follow the link to "Open With RegEdit", it will open RegEdit with the Key located and opened. If I right click on the key and select "Delete" and say "yes" to the confirmation screen, it reports :

    Cannot Delete {F0E3A5D7-80C7-4228-90FE-61DF01C417A5}: Error while deleting key.

    Is there any way to "FIX" this error/problem? I would like to get a "clean scan" if there is really not anything wrong when I run CCleaner.

    According to a Google search that key is related to Norton Security software. Do you still have it on your computer? If so, I would leave it alone.

    Regarding the registry cleaner, when I run the reg cleaner, fix all selected issues, and rescan, it comes up with the same 14 issues as before. It says problems fixed, but same problems. Kinda off topic, but thought I'd add. It's been this way for months, so I left it alone.

    Did some additional research and it seems you are correct. Until I replace the Norton, I will not worry about this entry.

    Thanks.

    I will consider my issue resolved. But, since another poster has additional issues on this same topic, I will not mark it as resolved. :cool
