Ccleaner Problem

I added CCleaner to my wife's Windows 10 lap top years ago and it has worked fine but now will not open. I tried to uninstall it and reinstall a new version but when attempting to uninstall it the message I got was "missing from file". I then tried to install a new version but it won't install and just sits there not responding to the install instruction.

Any help would be appreciated.

 

Gday Jud...….Have you tried uninstalling from 'safe mode'?

 

Try uninstalling it with revo uninstaller and then try downloading CCleaner again.

 

Neither suggestion worked. Any other ideas?

Just a thought......but how about running 'regedit' from command prompt (run as admin) and deleting all registry keys related to CCleaner under 'software' from HKEY_CURRENT_USER, and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE?

 

What happened yesterday was CCleaner showed a new update. I loaded it and was able to open the program. It then immediately showed another update. When run though, it wouldn't take. Anyway, I was able to get the program to run and did a scan.

I'll try the "regedit" approach next and see how that goes.

Just not install at all, and use the portable version instead!
