Yeah, I should be a CCleaner 'expert' by now, but a client has a problem: every time he runs CCleaner it removes his passwords. For example: if he goes to Gmail and types in his account name, the password does not automatically appear; he has to type it in. It stays automatic until the next time he runs CCleaner... how can he avoid this?

The strange thing: this doesn't happen on my home PC or my primary work PC. I never change the default CCleaner settings when I install it, maybe he changed a setting somewhere? If so, how do we reverse it?

    THANKS!

BTW- the "Saved Passwords" box in the "Internet Explorer" section is NOT checked.....

Deleting cookies and the index.dat file may be the culprit here. Cookies store user-specific data such as usernames/passwords used to gain access to web sites.

Check what they're setting is for those...

Under Internet Explorer, I do not have Autocomplete Form History checked.
Note: I don't use IE but I think if I checked that it would wipe out saved passwords in FF.

If you have 10 minutes to spare you can try this.
Launch CCleaner and tick the Cookies box for all browsers
Run CCleaner and as you say it will remove all log-in details.
Launch the browser and go to only the websites that you want to keep the log-in details for and log-in, also make any changes to preferences you want on that website.
When you have logged into all those websites exit the browser
Launch CCleaner > Options > Cookies
In the left pane Cookies to Delete you will see the sites you have just visited and logged into plus some Google and Facebook etc rubbish
Select (click on) the website you want to keep logged into and then click on the -> button in the middle. The cookie will move to the right pane Cookies to keep. Do this for all the sites you want to keep logged into.
You can now have the Cookies box in the general CCleaner window always ticked so when you run CCleaner it will delete all the cookies except the ones you selected to keep.

For security reasons, websites like your bank will not allow you to keep the log-in details, or at least they shouldn't

To reverse changes. Open Ccleaner, go down and click on Options, then go down and click Advanced. At the bottom click, Restore default settings.

If you go to Options > Advanced and check Show initial results in detailed view, then when you select Analyze
in the Cleaner section, you can check the detailed list to see what Will Be removed.

How about under Windows Explorer - Network Passwords ?

BTW, this was right under our noses.
At least you can have a backup that can easily be restored.

Also, under the "Applications" tab, make sure under Firefox that the "saved passwords" is unchecked. Sorta obvious, I know. But, I'm forever missing the obvious stuff...
