Trying to run 'Malware Revomal". In the guide, it directs to down load CCleaner. When clicking on the link, I downloaded PC Cleaner. Ran a scan and wants me to register. Is PC Cleaner the same as CCleaner. This was the link on Chaslang's malware removal direction. Please advise. :)

No. They are two separate programs. CCleaner is the one that you want and is highly recommended by all. Majorgeeks offers it here:

I would uninstall pc cleaner and stick to what works and and what is recommended by all.

Go to "http://majorgeeks.com/download4191.html" like I said before and under the downloads click on one of the two links (it will say "Majorgeeks - |USA 1| or Majorgeeks - |USA 2|"). Then a new page will appear and the download will start automatically.

Note: This version "slim" is everything that the full version of CCleaner has but no annoying "Yahoo toolbar" for your internet browser.

You may have a malware redirecting your browser.

Are you getting a page that looks like the attachment?

If you do have malware redirecting your browser, as Sach2 suggested, do you have any anti-virus software installed, and if so, is it up-to-date. I do have some good recommendations for some free anti-virus software.

    CCleaner finally

Hi.. yes I suspect there may be malware at the root of my the PC redirect. I did not get the browser you posted (fortunately)... but was able to finally get CCleaner downloaded and ran. Thank you;) Again... not underestimating what evil lurks on this system until I finish cleaning. ::)

    Im cleaned

I am trying to run Chaslang's malware removal program. I finally loaded the CCleaner and ran it. I like your idea of the Firefox browser. I will download that after I finish my malware cleaning. Had a major problem the other night, still recupperating - had a piracy take over form malware. It is arrested now and ran malwarebytes to stop the activity long enought to clean the system. As Sach2 suggested, I most likely still have bad guys lurking in background. Thank you for your support. Once I finish my malware clean program, I will look into our antiviruses. Time for some shot eye... have a good night:).. and thank you!
