Does anyone recommend Ccleaner that i still have used but have not updated to the current version and wondered if there's new compatible software that may be useful? The guys where i purchased my computer the other day indicated that they thought this was an old program (maybe the version on my Pc at present) and they felt that it's not needed. So, just looking for maybe second opinions or if there's other programs more up to date?

Thanks for the provided link. Do you think it's (for what it is and does) CCleaner's necessary if I have Firefox and it does pretty good clean up as far as deleting cookies and history, etc...?

What version of Windows do you run?
CCleaner updates monthly, which I feel is overkill.

Since I run Windows 7, I don't need all the Windows 10 bells and whistles which, I assume, might require a monthly update. I run a version from 2014. I only run it about once or twice a year. I tend to clean as I go. I erase files when I'm done with them and programs I remove get uninstalled with Revo Uninstaller so there isn't a lot of cleaning required.

I like CCleaner. I only use the slim version. I stick to the default settings. I rarely use the registry section but make a back up if I do.
I have the 'monitoring' part of the settings turned off.
I have the 'check for updates' permanently turned off but I check every couple of months for a new 'slim' version.
I run it maybe once every 4-6 weeks.

All the other well known cleaners such as Wise update just as often as CCleaner.
I personally would never use a program version like this that is 4 years old.

Overall I think CCleaner is a safe and reliable program. I used it on XP, 7, 8 and now Windows 10. I don't see any extra cleaning in Win 10 than I saw in 7 or 8.

Avast purchased CCleaner last year, so it may be profitable to watch to see if it improves with time. Don't think there have been many changes yet though.

I use it but as someone mentioned above, don't use it for the registry. It can make your computer useless.

Avast has ruined a halfway decent program. It is now literally Crap Cleaner.

It has been a Bloated POS since Avast took it over. I went back to 5.40 and that will be my last install of this BS. Cleaning your registry with this is insane..

It has its' conveniences in the Tools window...monitor startups, BHOs, restore points, and uninstall other programs.

I prefer Advanced System Care (http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/advanced_systemcare_10.html). Unlike CCleaner, ASC has never caused a registry issue even after using it on literally hundreds of PCs.

ASC's only downfall is that Malware Bytes and some lesser known AV programs flag and quarantine it as a PUP (Potentially Unwanted Program). ASC is totally safe, so I have no idea why Malware Bytes and others haven't corrected the problem.

I don't care what it has, it is now a bloated POS! I use REVO Pro to uninstall programs. It is time to stop thinking that CCleaner is the best out there because it is NOT.
