CD and DVD Rom showing errors

The computer is a HP Pavillion 763n, running Windows XP Home. Neither of my manufacturer installed CD drives will work. This is the error message I am getting. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall drivers, and restore, to no avail. Can you help me?

I have Vista, and found out the hard way that my CD/DVD driver has attached itself to my Epson CX6000 printer. Because of Vista, I had a whale of a time installing the printer, and every time I deleted the printer, I deleted the CD/DVD along with it. I had to go the Epson site, install the driver first, and then install the rest of the printer stuff.
