CD audio glitch

    hi, i have XP. every time i try play a CD audio the sound i get is crackly - like a panning effect.

    any ideas???

    Make sure it isn't just that CD and also make sure you are using a somewhat decent CDROM drive. (ie: 2x is probably going to do that). Also try running it without other programs running to try to free up system resources.

    no all that makes njo difference, it also happens on both my CD RW (48x) and DVD (6x) drive

    no crackling once copied to computer and playback however.

    I'd check to see if you have an audio cable running from the drive to the sound card, and if it has any shorts in it.
