Cd Burner Problems

yeah i have a problem with my burner, i have tried many times to burn a cd, and i found out that it is not writing at all. the program says it burned but the cd had nothing on it. i dont know anything about my burner, so i have no clue what could be wrong. i dont believe i have deleted anything recently that could have had any effect on it. if anyone could help me out i would appreciate it.

 

ok what type of medium are you trying to burn to? (cd r or cd rw predominantly)
when you say "the program" what program are you using?

 

well i ahev been trying to burn to CD-R, only, barely ever CD-RW, but i did get an audio cd made today through Windows Media PLayer, but i dont know if i can do data cd thorugh medai player, so i try Nero and DeppBurner, and they say that the stuff is burned but the little "writing" light never comes on , on the computer, and it says the cd is empty afterwards its weird. but thats what i want to do ia s data cd, or an MP3 cd, but i have these problems.
